Grant Garverick - President
Mr. Garverick was elected to the Board November, 2015 and began his first four-year term January 1, 2016. He is a 1981 graduate of Galion High School, a 1985 graduate of Ohio State University (B.A. with honors), and 1988 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Law (J.D.). He currently practices law in Galion. Mr. Garverick is involved in many civic organizations throughout the community. He and his wife, Margaret, live in Galion with their daughter, Gillian, who is currently a high school senior. Their older daughter, Maddy, graduated from Galion in 2014 and is currently pursuing a degree at the Ohio University in Athens Ohio.
Brian Owens - Vice President
Mr. Owens was elected to the Board in November of 2011. He is a current member of the 179th Air National Guard, Mansfield Lahm Airport, joining the United States Air Force in 1995. He also is involved in a multitude of youth sports as well as volunteering as a football coach on many levels. Mr. Owens is currently attending Mount Vernon Nazarene University, seeking a Bachelors of Business Administration. He also serves as a board member to Galion Youth Football, Galion Youth Football Equipment Custodian and Secretary. Mr. Owens is also involved in the Wounded Warrior Fund. He and his wife Angie are Galion Graduates and have two children that attend the Galion City Schools.
Mr. Long was elected to the Board with his term beginning in January of 2008 through 2011. Mr. Long has owned and operated Long Insurance Agency in Galion for the past 25 years. He is a member of Galion Kiwanis, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and the First Lutheran Church. Mr. Long and his wife, Cindy, have two daughters.
Mr. Mateer was elected to the Board in November 2017 and began his four-year term January 1, 2018. Mr. Mateer is a 1972 GHS graduate and earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Citadel. He served in the United States Army for 20 years, and returned to Galion in 2016 after retiring from a 21-year business career. Mr. Mateer is active with Experience Galion, the Galion Historical Society, Galion Fairview Cemetery Organization, American Legion Scarbrough Post 243 and Christ United Methodist Church in Galion. Mr. Mateer and his wife, Anne Marie, have five children and five grandchildren.
