From the Desk of... Andy Johnson, Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians

We are now into the second semester of our school year. Please refer to our electronic handbook (page 13) on the Galion Middle School website to find information regarding the requirements for students to be promoted to the next grade level. In a nutshell, students must:

Pass ALL 5 year long classes (English, Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies)

Earn grades during the year which total 9 points or more on based our 12 point system (A+ being 12 points, A being 11 points, A- being 10 points and so on).

Three of these nine points MUST be earned in the second semester of the school year

Any students who do not meet these requirements will either attend summer school (at a cost to you) or remain in his/her current grade level. Please continue to monitor Progress Book to stay abreast of your child’s progress. Our teachers do a good job of keeping the information on Progress Book up to date.

I am very pleased with the ways our teachers have integrated technology into their instructional activities. Our one to one initiative continues to be successful. Our main goal is to have students prepared to take the Ohio Achievement Assessments as follows:

Reading- April 24 (all students)

Math- April 29 (all students)

Science- May 1 (8th grade students only)

The staff at Galion Middle School is appreciative of your continued support. As always please contact us at 419-468-3134 with any questions or concerns.
