Galion Board of Education welcome new members

The Galion City School District Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting and regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Jan. 9.

During the organizational meeting, Mr. Mike Mateer and Mrs. Debra Donaldson took the oath of office as the newest members of the Board of Education. Mr. Grant Garverick was selected to serve as Board President, while Mr. Brian Owens was selected to serve as Vice President during the 2018 calendar year.

After adjourning the organizational meeting, the regular monthly meeting for January was called to order. The board held a public discussion about the calendar for the 2018-2019 school year. While the item was not immediately approved by the board, it will be on the agenda for the board to vote on during the next regular meeting in February.

The board moved to approve all items as presented after the school calendar discussion. The next regular meeting of the Galion City School District Board of Education will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Galion Middle School computer lab Tuesday, February 20.
