Galion Schools accepting transportation requests until May 1

April 11, 2018

Families of Galion City School District students wishing to receive transportation for the 2018-2019 school year will be required to complete and submit a Transportation Request Form to the district’s Transportation Department by Tuesday, May 1. Any forms received after May 1 for returning students who require transportation may result in a two-week delay in busing for that student.

The district can only accept one address per student due to the number of students bused to and from school. Families are welcome to use an alternate address, such as a babysitter or daycare provider, as long as the address is in the bus eligibility zone. If families choose to use an alternate address, that will be the only address used for their student’s busing assignment.

“Our goal is to have bus routes complete and accurate to ensure all families have their student’s bus assignments and questions answered before the first week of school,” explained Galion Superintendent Jim Grubbs. “We want to ensure the safety of all our bus riders, and this process is one way to help achieve that goal.

Bus eligibility zones are based on the driving distance from the respective school building to the busing address of students. The High School zone is more than 2.0 miles from the building, the Middle School zone is more than 1.5 miles from the school, and the Primary and Intermediate School zones are more than 1.0 miles from each building.

All transportation request forms must be submitted by May 1 to ensure students will be able to receive transportation beginning the first day of the 2018-2019 school year. Transportation request forms can be found on the district’s website,, under the “Parents” and “Transportation” section.

Information letters and transportation request forms will be sent home with all students Friday, April 13. Families are encouraged to complete the form online and email it to Forms can also be completed online, printed and returned to the student’s respective building secretary or the Galion High School office.

Those with questions or concerns are encouraged to call the High School office at 419-468-6500 ext. 12006 or email
