A group of Galion High School students are collecting unwanted crayons and markers in an effort to support their group's focus on recycling. Teen Green is a student-activities group that primarily focuses on recycling within the High School. The group also works to educate younger Galion students about the importance of recycling and how not recycling can negatively impact the Earth.
The Galion Primary and Intermediate Schools will host a new kind of open house for students and their families starting at 4:00 p.m. in each building Thursday. Students and their families will have the opportunity to visit four stations in each building that will include the student’s classroom, the cafetorium, lobby or gymnasium in their respective building and the Galion Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) table.

The Galion City School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Galion alumna Shani Rush as the new head coach of the Lady Tigers basketball program during their regular meeting August 21.
The Galion High School and Galion Middle School, in an effort to increase student safety, will implement changes to the traffic patterns for those families who drop off and pick up their students each school day. The changes will begin with the first day of classes on Monday, August 20.
