Students and staff in the Galion City Schools will celebrate what has been anything but a “normal” school year on Friday, May 7. The event, which is open to all students in preschool through twelfth grade and staff, will bring the entire district together to celebrate the end of the school year beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Galion Intermediate School fifth grade student Bella Alberty has been named to the American Automobile Association (AAA) Safety Patrol Hall of Fame for the 2020-2021 school year. Safety Patrol Advisor Adam Lehman, who is also the media specialist at the Intermediate school first learned of the Hall of Fame after finding AAA brochures from years prior.
The Galion Music Parents will host their annual Chicken BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, May 8. This year’s event is a drive-thru pick-up, from 5-7:00 p.m., in the East parking lot of Galion High School due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Galion City Schools Board of Education recognized district treasurer Charlene Parkinson during its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 20. Mrs. Parkinson, and her office, are the recipients of the Ohio Auditor of State Award, which is presented annually by Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber, for excellence in financial reporting for the fiscal year ended 2020.
Galion High School Performing Arts is pleased to present the Disney classic “High School Musical, Jr” virtually this spring. Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.
The Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio’s Crawford County Mobile Drive-Thru Pantry event will be held on the Galion City Schools campus on Wednesday, April 28.
Galion Middle School students and families will have the opportunity to add flair and color to the building during the GMS Family Art Night on Tuesday, April 13. The event is scheduled to take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Galion High School will host its 2020-2021 National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony Monday, April 12, in the High School cafetorium. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. Attendance this year will be limited to current members, and inductees may have a party of four to allow for social distancing protocols. The ceremony will be live-streamed on the Galion City Schools Facebook page (facebook.com/galioncityschools) or the district’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtyIVgEDzvegrw_i-l8aHsA).
