The Galion City Schools held its annual staff appreciation banquet at The Hub at Village Square on May 27. The district honored an array of staff members for their years of care and commitment to the children of the Galion community.
The desire to do community service and help others through raising money are important values that young people need to learn. Fifth-grade students from Galion Intermediate School took on a large fundraising project during the last four months of the 2020-2021 school year and presented a check for $1,500 to the Humane Society serving Crawford County on May 24.
The Galion City Schools Board of Education approved contracts for administrators during its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 18. Tina Crim, who has been serving as the Assistant Principal for Galion Primary School, will become the Principal at the Galion Intermediate School starting with the 2021-2022 school year.
The Galion City Schools is excited to announce that it will be offering the 2021 Summer ROAR (Resources, Opportunities, Achievement, Readiness) Program June 1-23.
The Galion Intermediate School will conduct a summer-long scavenger hunt for all incoming 2021-2022 third, fourth, and fifth-grade students starting May 26 through August 18.
The Galion Middle School seventh grade team of teachers wanted to put a different twist on the “average” Field Day experience for their students this school year. Thanks to a strong relationship with the United States Army Recruiting Office in Mansfield, the team was able to put a program together that focused on team building and communications skills on Tuesday, May 18.
The Galion City Schools, in partnership with the USDA, is sponsoring a Summer Food Service Program in Galion this summer. Free lunches will be provided to children ages 1 to 18 every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from June 2 through August 6 at six locations around Galion.
The Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio’s Crawford County Mobile Drive-Thru Pantry event will be held on the Galion City Schools campus on Tuesday, May 25.
The Galion City Schools is gearing up for a week of activities to celebrate and recognize the Class of 2021 as the district prepares for its annual graduation ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23.
The Galion Community Foundation (GCF) held a special, invitation-only ceremony to award more than twenty scholarships to Galion High School seniors on May 11. Scholarships presented during the evening totaled more than $43,000.
