Learning to give back to the community and help others has become a staple in the educational journey for students in the Galion City Schools. The Galion Intermediate School and Galion Primary School held the annual “Socktober” fundraiser, and it was a tremendous success. The students collected 5,410 pairs of new socks, bringing their eight-year total to more than 11,000 pairs of socks collected.
The Galion Primary School and Galion Intermediate School, in cooperation with the Galion M.O.M.S. group, are showing their support for community members serving in the military through the “Support Galion Troops” program. The district-wide drive is taking place throughout the month of November.
The Galion City Schools, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, is looking for community volunteers to help distribute food to families in need during the upcoming Thanksgiving-themed Mobile Food Pantry on November 16.
The Galion City Schools, in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, will host a Thanksgiving Mobile Drive-Thru Pantry event on the district’s campus on Tuesday, November 16. Second Harvest will be distributing FREE holiday-themed assorted boxes, turkeys, produce, pies, and more for income-eligible families in Crawford County from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Galion Middle School on November 16.
The Galion City Schools has embarked on a project to recognize and thank area veterans, and their families, for their service. The district has created and is making available, a total of 250 “Thank You” yard signs for veterans to display.
The 2021-2022 school year has seen a concerted effort from the Galion City Schools to increase their communications with the Galion community and Tiger families. The district’s increased efforts are a result of the strategic planning process that was recently completed.
The Galion High School will host its 2021 National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony in the High School cafetorium on Nov. 8. The induction ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m.
