Galion National Honor Society inducting 15 new members

Galion High School will host its 2020-2021 National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony Monday, April 12, in the High School cafetorium. The ceremony will begin at 7:00 p.m. Attendance this year will be limited to current members, and inductees may have a party of four to allow for social distancing protocols. Galion senior wins Crawford County Franklin B. Walter scholarship

Galion High School senior Simon Shawk was selected as the Crawford County winner of the Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award, presented by Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center on March 16. Shawk carries a 4.0 GPA at Galion High School and is on track to graduate with both his high school diploma and an Associate’s Degree from The Ohio State University in May.

The Galion FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) chapter developed a safety plan with the same goal in mind. The students and Officer Burwell partnered up and “Buckle Up Bracelets” were born.

Kindergarten registration for the Galion City Schools will begin March 1 and continue through April 13. Parents interested in enrolling their child for the 2021-2022 school year should do so throughout the month of March. Any child five-years-old on or before Aug. 1, 2021, is eligible to apply.

The competition will be held virtually because of the pandemic, limiting the Zoom call to only participants and coaches or school representatives.
