Teacher and Staff Appreciation is the week of May 8th-12th. We would like to shower our teachers and staff with certificates of appreciation on May 12th.
If interested, fill out the Google Doc link below. You only need to add the staffs name, your students name, and 1-2 sentences of gratitude. It will automatically send it to the school. We will print them for the teachers and staff members once completed.

The Primary will be offering a Bootcamp this summer for all incoming kindergarten students and first-third graders by invite only.
Bootcamp will be July 17-21 and July 31-Aug. 4 from 8:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. Incoming First-Third grade invited students feel free to sign up for both weeks (or one if out of town, ect.). Incoming kindergarten students please just choose one week.

Just a reminder that the 2nd grade school play is Thursday, April 20th at 6:30 p.m. Please have your student here by 6 p.m. and find a good seat as it fills up quickly. This round will will be Oney, Rowe/Frost, and Conner homerooms.
2. Kindergarten Screening, Tues, April 18th and Wed., April 19th
Kindergarten registration is now open! Screening will be on April 18th and 19th at Grace Point Church. Please call 419-468-4010 to schedule an appointment for registration. Children eligible for enrollment must be at least five years of age by Aug. 1st, 2023.
Final Forms is now available to complete for next school year. Be sure to update and sign both the Contact form and the Transportation form by May 10th to ensure bus transportation needs are met for next year. Happy Autism Awareness Day!
Jenny Jackson has been with the district for 22 years serving as a teacher, Title 1 Reading Interventist and currently a Literacy Coach for the district. She is a wonderful resource for the staff and students. She loves the family atmosphere at the Primary and the impact that she has in the coaching role being able to help students reach their best potential. Samanatha Altstadt has been with Galion Primary for the past three years and is a teacher in the cross categorial room. Sam has a lot of favorite memories, from receiving hugs from students who do not like physical touch, to a student who is nonverbal saying her name, to watching the kids play together. Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Ds chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks! We hope you participate tomorrow in Rock Your Socks with us!

We are having our annual Literacy Night this Thursday, March 23rd from 5-7 p.m. at the Primary building. There will be fun hands on literacy activities, snacks, the Scholastic book fair, and more. We hope to see you there!

Preschool will be having their annual Literacy Night this Thursday, March 23rd from 5-7 p.m. at the Primary building. During that time we will have a Scholastic Book Fair here during that time if your are interested in purchasing books for your student.
Kindergarten will have the chance to look at the Book Fair the following school day, on March 24th. Due to age appropriateness this will only be offered for our preschool and kindergarten for this time. If interested send in money with your kindergartener, or set up an e-wallet by using the QR code provided.
As a district, we will continue to prioritize safety, explore the best methods, and ensure that current safety measures are accurately functioning. Tomorrow afternoon (3/15) at approximately 1:30 p.m., Galion City School District will conduct a districtwide lockdown drill to assess the newly installed Centegix CrisisAlert system. This drill will be the second district wide test of the system, which also notifies local first responders. The Galion Police Department will participate in the exercise to ensure the communication is received and dispatched properly.
Practicing the procedures and systems we have in place ensures that they work as they should. We will continue to communicate with families regarding safety practices and updates to our procedures.
The Galion City Schools will be on a 2-hour delay today, March 14, 2023. Please remember that there will be no ROAR and no breakfast this morning. Be safe, Tigers!
