As the winter weather sets in, make sure you and your children are prepared for winter weather school bus safety with these tips:
- Dress for the Weather: Dress your child warmly for winter with layers, including a hat, gloves and a coat to stay comfortable in changing temperatures.
- Stay Visible: Ensure your child is visible to the bus driver in dark winter days by adding reflective elements to their clothing or backpack during early morning and late afternoon trips.
- Stay Up to Date: Stay updated on bus schedule changes or delays.
- Stay Safe: Remind your child to be aware of winter hazards like slippery sidewalks and ice; additionally, encourage them to wait a safe distance from the road and to be cautious when getting on and off of the bus.
