🐾❄️ Galion City Schools Weather Safety Update ❄️🐾

We know delays and closures can be frustrating—thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate extreme winter conditions. While winter weather is expected this time of year, student safety always comes first.
Due to dangerously low temps, negative windchills along with road conditions that are continuing to improve, many of our sidewalks are not yet cleared. Lack of clear sidewalks forces students to walk on the road creating an extreme safety hazard for students and drivers."

📣 With that said, Galion City Schools will remain CLOSED tomorrow, Friday, January 30.

💙 Call to Action:
At some point tomorrow or this weekend, we encourage our pre-teens and teens—if you’re able—to bundle up and help shovel sidewalks and driveways, check on elderly neighbors, or lend a hand however you can. Every little bit helps and makes a difference in keeping our community safe.

Attach your "Call to Action" Pictures below and/or email learning@galionschools.org for a chance to be spotlighted!!

Thank you for supporting our students and our Galion community. We will see you all Monday !! 🧡💙🐅

💬 Building Conversations That Matter 💬

We’re excited to share that Galion City Schools will be launching a monthly segment in partnership with the Crawford County Prevention Coalition, focused on age-appropriate topics that support the overall well-being of our students. While some of these questions may be considered "too young" or silly for some it's a way to open a dialog to fit a need.

We’re starting the year by encouraging families to simply build strong, open communication with their children. These conversations don’t have to be formal—often the best talks happen around the dinner table or at bedtime, when the house is quiet and kids feel most comfortable opening up. But we must start to build relationships that are based on communication.

January, the focus is on connection and trust—creating space for your child to share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In the coming months, we’ll begin sharing guidance and resources on how to talk with your child about more specific topics, including substance use prevention and awareness, in a thoughtful and age-appropriate way.

Thank you for CCPC for partnering with us as we work together to support healthy choices and strong family communication. 💙

Please welcome Kristi Lawson to Galion City Schools! Kristi will be joining our team as our new Family Advocate. She is a Galion alumni herself alongside her husband, Mark, of 27 years, and together they raised their three adult children here in Galion.

She will be a vital bridge between Tiger families and the district. She will focus on rebuilding trust, strengthening relationships, and offering steady support to parents. Our goal is to ensure that families and the district can work together effectively in support of our students.
