Galion City School District families are invited to participate in a series of Listen & Learn 2 Lead sessions designed for parents to get to know Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Hartmann, ask questions and share input about their experiences with our district.

Curious about what happens at the bus stop? State law requires bus drivers to follow the steps below at bus stops in order to keep our students safe.
✅ Check mirrors for traffic conditions and apply brakes well in advance to warn traffic from the rear.
✅ Actuate warning lights 300 feet prior to stop.
✅ Stop bus at designated stop.
✅ Set the parking brake.
✅ Place the gear shift lever into neutral gear for both manual and automatic transmissions to prevent the bus from lunging forward.
✅ Open the service door to actuate the warning lights and place a hand over the horn to warn students of potential hazards.
✅ Give students directions to go to their Designated Place of Safety and stay there until the bus leaves or signal students to board the bus from their Designated Place of Safety.
✅ Shift the gear lever into the starting gear only after counting and confirming the students are in their Designated Place of Safety or safely in their seat.
✅ Close the door when all areas are clear. Door must be closed before the bus moves.
✅ Look to identify students and potential hazards in the danger zone, counting and checking the mirrors before closing the door and canceling the warning lights.
✅ Release the parking brake after closing the door.
✅ Recheck traffic in the right and left side mirrors prior to pulling away.

Galion City Schools recently purchased a GPS Field Marking Robot with the support of the Galion Booster Club. The Club fully funded the cutting-edge technology to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness of painting lines on athletic fields.

Friendly reminder, Tigers! There will be no school on Monday, September 4, in observance of Labor Day.
As a district, we will continue to prioritize safety, explore the best methods, and ensure that current safety measures are accurately functioning. Friday afternoon (9/1) at approximately 1:30 p.m., Galion City School District will conduct a districtwide lockdown drill to assess the recently installed Centegix CrisisAlert system, which notifies district administrators and first responders in an emergency. This drill will be the first district wide test of the system for the 2023-2024 school year. The Galion Police Department will participate in the exercise to ensure the communication is received and dispatched properly.
Practicing the procedures and systems we have in place ensures that they work as they should. We will continue to communicate with families regarding safety practices and updates to our procedures.
Join us on Friday, September 1, at Heise Park Stadium for Elementary Night! All PreK-5 students are encouraged to show their TIGER PRIDE and wear orange and blue.
Students will get in FREE with a paying adult/guardian if wearing a wristband (distributed at school). There will be a pregame tailgate at 5:00 p.m. in the park. Free popcorn, temporary tattoos, and hair color will be provided. Join us on the track in front of the concession stand at 6:15 p.m. to follow the Galion Tiger Marching Band across the front of the grandstand.
** Primary students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
