Back-to-School

Galion City Schools is excited to welcome our students and parents back for another school year. To ensure a smooth and successful start, we have compiled a list of all the essential information and sites to visit that our parents will need to prepare for a seamless back-to-school experience.

1. Rooms - NEW Two-Way Communication Tool for Families

This year, Galion City Schools will introduce Rooms, a new two-way communication tool for students and parents to reach teachers, coaches and other staff members. The tool is built into our mobile app. It will allow parents to access class announcements and direct messages to and from their student’s teachers and coaches. Be sure to register for Rooms via the Galion City Schools Mobile App (available on iOS and Android)!

2. Canvas - Your Gateway to Classroom Information

Canvas is our learning management system that allows parents to stay connected with their child's education. For students in grades 3-12, this is an essential tool for access to assignments, assessments, and important class announcements. Parents are encouraged to set up observer accounts to monitor their student’s progress. Get the details about Canvas and how to request a parent pairing code by visiting our website: https://www.galionschools.org/page/canvas-information

3. Final Forms - Keeping Your Information Up-to-Date

Final Forms is our secure online platform for student registration and data management. Ensure all your student’s forms and information are up-to-date for a successful start to the school year! Students who enrolled prior to August 1 should have received an email from our registrar with a link to set up their Final Forms account. For assistance accessing the platform, please contact your student’s building.

4. Free and Reduced Meal Form - Ensuring Proper Nutrition

Each year, families are encouraged to complete the Free and Reduced Meals application regardless of income. This federal program offers free or reduced prices on school meals for those who fall within the income eligibility guidelines. To complete the application, please visit our website: https://www.galionschools.org/o/gcs/page/food-service-menus-and-pricing.

5. School Supplies and Campus Wear - Tools and Dress Essentials for Learning

You can find details regarding our Campus Wear Policy and school supply lists on our website. Find our Campus Wear policy here and the complete list of school supplies here.

6. Here Comes the Bus - Ensuring Safe Transportation

Galion City Schools partners with "Here Comes the Bus" to provide real-time tracking of your child's school bus. Instruction on how to download the app and other important Transportation information is available on the Transportation Department webpage. Bus drivers will be contacting families with student’s bus numbers and arrival/drop-off times. If you have any questions, please contact the transportation office at 419-468-6500, ext. 11022.

The first day of school for all students is Thursday, August 17 and will begin on a two-hour delay. We look forward to welcoming our Tigers back for another exciting school year.
